the PVP update : close to finished


so far, alot of work has gone into this new update, the goal of the update is to obviously introduce the new gamemode PVP, yet it has a secondary purpose of cleaning up all the rough edges of the game. all the glitches and bugs in the game have not gone unnoticed, but there are still some that we might of missed. if that is the case, let us know in our discord server: https://discord.gg/gjdVQMmzZD

here are all of the changes made so far, there are still many more things to be done, but these are what has been completed as of 19/4/2022

additions

these are the main points of the update that were not in prior updates:

added guns which can fire bullets and reload, as a gun does.

added shields, these can block bullets.

added new multiplayer gamemode called "pvp" which is the gamemode used to play on the pvp map and fight against your friends.

added new multiplayer gamemode called "classic" which is the new way of playing the campaign with friends.

added new singleplayer gamemode called "story" which is the new way of playing the campaign by yourself.

added new singleplayer gamemode called "American school" which the shooting or testing range to test out the different guns and abilities.

added a new singleplayer gamemode called "freefly" which is used for people who want to explore the out of bounds areas of the game.

added new weapon system which allows for the player to switch between guns.

reinstated console commands. these were already in the game but were removed. now they are back and better than ever with a new system to view the commands and more commands than before.

added new postprocessing effects. these include bloom (which makes the game looks brighter and more vibrant without actually increasing how bright it is on screen), vignet (which makes the edges of the screen slightly darker allowing for a more realistic viewpoint), chromatic aberration (distorts the view point ever so slightly to split the edge colours to blue or red. this is usually unnoticed yet makes the game look nicer.) 

updates

these are new additions that expand on the already existing elements:

added audio distortion to the voice chat to increase the volume of the player when speaking.

added ability to mute yourself in the voice chat allowing for others to be unable to here you talk.

made the grappling gun act like a gun, allowing for the player to pickup and drop it.

reduced the players acceleration, allowing for more precise movement and platforming whilst still allowing for the player to play fast and speedily with the other methods of speed increase like grapple chaining, side jumps, dash spam, rewind dash, long grapples, grapple flings, DGMPs and grapple flicks amongst many others.

increased player voice chat volume which makes people able to hear you from much longer distances.

updated the ui in the main menu, pause menu, level select menu, gamemode menu, multiplayer gamemode menu, multiplayer lobby select and multiplayer settings menu. making them look much nicer, cleaner and more intuitive.

changed the dash effect to be randomised and less intrusive. this is so that the player can see where they are going or where bullets are coming from in high stress situations.

changed the player trail completely into a much more simple version which does not intersect with the players vision. 

increased the death void in each map from 2000m² to 200000m². this makes it nearly impossible to launch past the death barrier.

changed the players trail to only being able to be seen by other players in the multiplayer modes

completely changed the way the the light in level 9 works. it used to be a light that surrounded the player in a short radius. now it has been changed to act like a flashlight as it shines where the player looks.

decreased the dash cooldown from 0.5 to 0.3 seconds.

increased the force of the dash from 25 to 40.

bug fixes

these are things that were broken in prior updates that now work as intended or mostly intended: 

fixed bug where players get teleported in classic mode. there used to be a issue where the host player would die or complete the level and cause for the other players to teleport to the new level. this has been mostly fixed

fixed issue where players don't die in a couple of the levels in both classic and story mode. players used to either hit a death barrier or hit a deadly wall and not die. this has been resolved.

fixed issue where players couldn't join the discord through the in game buttons. players used to be unable to click on the discord button in the main menu, now players can.

fixed an issue with the player model where the inside cube of the kyoob duplicated itself and got in the way of the players vision. this no longer happens.

removals

these are uncommon changes that completely remove a feature:

removed the Easter eggs. this is due to an issue with the new post processing that corrupted the images. this should be fixed by the next update
